Armaments Policy

The Armaments Policy Department took up work in August 2007.
The Head of Department advises the German Permanent Representative to the European Union and the German Representative to the Political and the EU Security Committee (PSC) on all armaments policies matters and related economical and industrial aspects.
The area of responsibility coordinated in close contact with the involved ministries comprises:
Analysis and evaluation of ongoing activities and developments with regard to armaments policies on an European level initiated or pursued by the European Defense Agency (EDA), the European Commission, and in the European Parliament
Representing national German positions and interest in EDA working groups and other formats as well as vis-á-vis the EDA executive management
Liasing and coordinating with opposite numbers in other Permanent Representations all aspects and policies regarding EDA
Planning and organizing of visits, conferences and events within the remit of the department
The Armaments Policy Department is led by Head of Department Martin Schnause.
